AAA Brisbane with Keith De Lacy 21st Feb 2012

Date: Tuesday, 21st February 2012
Location: Tattersall's Club 215 Queen St Brisbane QLD

Diverse Knowledge & Experience with a Passion for Agriculture

Guest Speaker Keith De Lacy AM, Chairman MacArthur Coal, Chairman Cubbie Station, Board Member of COFCO and past treasurer of Qld.

Keith De Lacy AM will be addressing us on February 21st. He is one of Queensland's best known public figures and company directors (he is currently Queensland President and on the national Board of the Australian Institute of Company Directors). He has a strong history in both resources and agri business.

Keith was Treasurer of Queensland from 1989 to 1996 and Chairman of Macarthur Coal from its float in 2001 till it was taken over by Peabody in October this year.

He was born on a tobacco farm in Far North Queensland and started life as a tobacco farmer. He is Chairman of the Cubbie Group, and President of COFCO Australia; and he was Chairman of Queensland Sugar (QSL) from 2004 to 2008. During this time was also Chairman of the Global Sugar Alliance, a group of sugar exporting countries seeking freer and fairer trade in sugar on global markets.

Keith DeLacy is noted for having strong (and interesting) views on a range of relevant topics, nurtured as he says from having the good fortune of living many different lives. In his address he will speak about his passion for the future of agriculture, the highs and lows of the Cubbie experiment, foreign investment in agriculture, and will no doubt provide insights into the vexed question of the ability of the resources and agricultural sectors to work together."
